If the Walls are the only paid attraction you want, the standard City Walls ticket is the straightforward choice. If you also plan to visit several included attractions, compare that with Dubrovnik Pass before buying separately.
Earlier or later usually feels better.
In warm weather, exposed stone and midday sun can make the circuit harder than it looks. Early morning and late afternoon generally offer cooler temperatures and softer light. If photography matters, these periods are usually the easiest to work with.
Know where you want to enter before you arrive.
The main entrance is at Pile. Other access points are available around the Walls, including the Ploče side and the St. John area. Your best entrance depends on where you are approaching from and what you want to do before or after the circuit.
Give yourself time, water and proper footwear.
Allow roughly 1.5–2 hours if you want to walk the circuit without rushing. In summer, carry water and sun protection. The route includes many steps and uneven historic stone, so footwear matters more than it does for a normal city stroll.
